What is so different about this model?

First: The quarks in the protons and neutrons play an active part in developing the structure of the nucleus.

Second: In addition to the strong force, the electric charges and magnetic dipoles of the quarks also participate in controllings nuclear structure.

You are about to embark on an exciting and very informative trip through the nucleus of the elements as they proceed along the “Valley of Stability”.

The journey begins when you first realize that three of anything, no matter how you put them together, forms a triangular shaped object.

Thus, protons and neutron are triangular ovoids not spheres.

Carbon 12 - Hexagonal Model

Triangular ovoids come together to form a hexagonal lattice. Included is a model of the nucleus of carbon 12 built with ZOME constructs and based on the quarks that make up the nucleons. Black nodes represent "up" quarks and white nodes represent "down" quarks. Blue struts connect 3 quarks to represent triangular protons and white struts connect 3 quarks to represent triangular neutrons.

  • 4. ‘Modified Lattice Model’ is a series of short treatises on various aspects which relate to this model.
  • 5. ‘Stable Nuclide Chart’ shows the Valley of Stable Nuclei.
  • 6. ‘Nuclei’ provide a step by step progression of the stable nuclei along the path of stability. Currently we are slowly building the photo gallery of nuclear models of all these nuclei.
  • 7. ‘Miscellaneous’ and the rest are tidbits and a summary of things the reader may find interesting.

Between 2/1/2008 and 2/1/2009 there were over 12,000 hits on this site.
now at the start of Feb 2010 there have been over 26,000 hits on this site.

When data is in a presentable form it is added to this site.

Additionally we are developing more data and information all the time.

         The beauty of this model is,

  • This model answers all those anomalies about the nucleus usually just passed over by other models rather than being answered.

           technetium promethium instability,
           neutron stability gaps like 19,
           21, 35, etc. neutrons,
           Asymmetrical fissions,
           and the lack of a super-heavy element island
all materialize as a natural phenomenon inherent in this model!
